Covid-19

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a coronavirus call SARS-CoV-2. Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to severe symptoms. Covid-19 affect different people in different ways. Infected people have had a wide range of symptoms reported - from mild symptoms to severe illness. 

What to Do if Your Child Is Sick

Call you doctor if your child has a fever, cough, trouble breathing, sore throat, belly pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, dizziness, or just doesn't feel well. If your child has been exposed with coronavirus, tell your doctor. Talk about whether your child needs a test for coronavirus. The doctor can decide whether you child, can be treated at home, should come in for a visit, can have video or telehealth visit.

Covid Symptoms in Children

Fever and cough are common Covid-19 symptoms in both adults and children; shortness of breath is more likely to be seen in adults. Children can have pneumonia, with or without obvious symptoms. They can also experience sore throat, excessive fatigue and diarrhea. 

Preventatives

  • Wear a mask
  • Wash your hands
  • Wear gloves while touching others or handling bodily fluids
  • Wash your hands immediately after tasks to prevent cross contamination
  • Explore vaccination options (do what's best for you)
  • Social distancing

What If My Child Test Positive

  • Immediately call you case manager/administrator of Vested CPA
  • A CPS report will need to be called into the hotline 1-800-252-5400
  • Complete a detailed serious incident report 
  • Follow physician instructions and obtain medical documentation
  • Complete Medication Logs if medication is prescribed
  • Notify school to obtain explained absence and request schoolwork
  • GET WELL!!!
